See You In Sayulita! See You In Sayulita!

Travel Tips

Passports: If you need a passport or it will expire, the process can take 2+ months.

Flights: You'll fly in to Puerto Vallarta (PVR) which is about 45 minutes south of Sayulita. Many flights should be available from your airport of choice! Flight prices will likely increase after Labor Day, so if possible book your flight before then. Most flights are typically cheaper to purchase on Wednesdays.

Transportation from the airportThe most common way to get to Sayulita is to have Villa Amor provide an airport transfer for you. The cost of this service is $150 usd round trip for 1 up to 6 people, or $100 usd from airport to Villa Amor / $60 usd from VA to the airport. The transfer includes a free stop along the way for groceries. Smaller cars and taxis are also available for pickup at the airport and in Sayulita when returning back to Puerta Vallarta. Only purchase taxis from the official taxi booth at the airport on the way in.

Transportation in town: Most places of interest in Sayulita are within walking distance and renting a car is not recommended as roads are small and there are not many cars in town. Renting a golf cart to get around town is an option! Pacific Coast Golf Cars offer gas and electric golf carts that range from $55 – $85 per day.

Currency: One US Dollar = roughly 18 pesos. American dollars are typically accepted around town, but at a premium, and credit cards have a 3+% surcharge. Cash is easiest, and pesos are highly recommended. You can bring a supply with you from home, or take out a supply upon arrival at Puerto Vallarta airport (found after exiting customs). AVOID the airport HSBC ATM and ATMs on the street in Sayulita due to risk of card theft. The ATM inside Don Pedro's Restaurant is the safest bet in town.

Food: There are no all-inclusive options in Sayulita, but food and drinks are cheap! The cost-per-day should be less than typical all-inclusive options. Sayulita's restaurants and street food are a major attraction if, and there is a restaurant right at Villa Amor. Most units at Villa Amor have a kitchenette, and your transportation from the airport can make a quick stop at a grocery store on your way in to town.

Water: It is not recommended to drink tap water, but you will find plenty of safe drinking water in your villa. In addition, all local restaurants serve purified water. The restaurants and bars in Sayulita use purified water for drinking, washing produce, and the ice is made from purified water as well, so no need to be nervous about ice in your margarita.

Beach: The main bay is approximately 2 miles long, with North and South ends of the beach divided by a shallow river. The South end is close to the town center, restaurants, and bars, but tends to be a bit busier and noisier. The North end of the beach is less crowded and more relaxed. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available for rent up and down the beach, and surf lessons are available and a very popular part of Sayulita life.

Activities: There are many activities outside of sun, tacos, and tequila - including surfing, fishing, snorkeling/diving, hiking, horseback riding, and day trips to various locations.
